Riders must be at least seven, and no more than 17 years old. Older riders and home schoolers may set up special independent study programs, younger riders may come for a family time together. Talk to Mary Anne if you're interested in designing a program for your child.
The camps go from 10:00 to 2:00 daily, Monday through Thursday. Day campers help with barn chores, learn about riding history and horsemanship, and each rider gets one private lesson daily.
The children will learn about Mediterranean Horsemanship, work in hand, and as riders they will focus on balance exercises, once the balance is perfect we'll explore the aids. There is a demonstration from one o'clock to end of day on the final day to include parents in what we've learned.
We introduce several disciplines so that the rider gets a little taste of lots of different ways to ride, and an underlying sense of what is consistent and what supports the horse-human connection best. Each rider will take home a booklet that covers what we're learning and includes quizzes that he or she will complete in camp or at home.
All children participating in summer camp receive 10% off their first lesson package after the camp is done.
