Seatwork is for everyone.

Not just for beginners and not just for “dressage" riders.

It’s a way of training any rider to establish real balance by giving us gentle, targeted tests that the rider’s sense of feel sorts out— not the instructor’s sense of “correctness” but the rider’s sense of “balance.”

It happens that when the rider is balanced it has a certain look to it— but the look has to come from real balance, balance isn’t established by mimicking a look.

Like a real smile isn’t anything like what you see when someone directs you to “SMILE.”

The old French trainers developed a wonderful system for helping a rider find our best balance, our real alignment.

And real balance makes us infinitely safer and makes our aids infinitely more real to the horse.
